The Soup gears up to air its 300th episode on Velvet.

The Soup, the talk show that discusses, rants and raves on anything in the world of celebrity and pop culture, is gearing up to air its 300th episode that promises even more razor-sharp wit and snappier dialogue from its host, funny man Joel McHale. And you’ll get to watch it all play out exclusively on Velvet on Sky Cable channel 53.

The Soup has become a Tuesday night habit by pop culture fanatics. They tune in to Velvet at the stroke of 7:30 in the evening to get their a weekly dose of the craziest encounters that Hollywood and TV has to offer. Surprise celebrity guests often pop in to join McHale in his boisterous laugh trip.

From reality TV gems such as “Tool Academy” and “Bad Girls Club” to talk show bloopers on “Live with Regis and Kelly,” and “Larry King Live!” to angsty teen melodrama on “Gossip Girl,” and “90210″ to just purely bizarre behavior from Tyra Banks and Lindsay Lohan, The Soup has got it all.

On its historic 300th episode, The Soup favorite Seth Green returns for yet another special guest appearance. McHale and the rest of the crew also pay tribute to its former “victims,” including morning show hosts Regis Philbin and Kelly Ripa, Wendy Williams, Kathy Lee Gifford and Hoda Kotb. American Idol alum Sanjaya returns with his own message for Joel.

For the past seven years, loyal fans have enjoyed the sharp wit and keen eye for the “best of the worst in reality television” as analyzed by the gang at The Soup. Armed with a team of interns and the hairy chested bikini-wearing Mankini, they sit thru hours of television watching out for the week’s most outrageous moments in pop culture.

Two of Velvet’s avid Filipino viewers recently flew to Los Angeles to meet Joel McHale and watch a live taping of The Soup.

Director of First Pinoy 3D Movie Hopes for the Success of the Movie

Finding the hero within and leveling up.

This is what the country’s 1st 3D animated film, “RPG Metanoia,” is all about, said director Louie Suarez.

According to Suarez, the movie, one of the entries to the 36th Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF), highlights the importance of improving and changing oneself.

“Role playing games [are] all about leveling up, improving yourself, changing, becoming a better person, becoming a stronger person. Parang primary theme ng movie is finding the hero within, leveling up,” he said during the film’s press conference on Friday.

This, as well as “a lot of heart” that his team had put into making “RPG Metanoia," will hopefully draw the moviegoers to the film when it hits the big screen on December 25, the director said.

“And we trust the Filipino audience that they’re ready for this. They’ll know what’s a good movie and what’s not a good movie and I think with that in mind, it will probably do well,” he said in a separate interview on ANC’s “Cityscape.”

The premiere of RPG Metanoia will be held this Sunday afternoon at SM Megamall Cinema 3. Top bosses of ABS-CBN including chairman Eugenio Lopez III and president Charo Santos-Concio are expected to attend the star-studded event.

‘Not haphazardly-done’

“RPG Metanoia” is not a haphazardly-done animated movie. It took Suarez’s team 5 years – from inception to completion - to make the Tagalog film.

It is also something all Filipinos can be proud of since the processing and the post-processing were “all done here locally.”

The other main attraction of the film is its cast members. It showcases the voices of young actor Zaijian Jaranilla (who played the famed Santino of the “May Bukas Pa”), Aga Muhlach, Vhong Navarro, Eugene Domingo and Mika dela Cruz.

“RPG Metanoia” follows the story of Nico (Jaranilla), a boy who loves to play massively multi-player online role-playing games (RPG) all day as he struggles to adjust himself to the real world.

The film, according to Suarez, is somewhat inspired by his nephew, who is a huge MMORPG fan. “This is also an eye opener for me because I have to learn about what people are doing, what kids are doing nowadays.”

Both kids and adults, Suarez assured, will enjoy watching it.

“Kasi the movie is filled with themes that sort of bridge the generation gap like mother and son. Parents will like [the] sentimental aspects we’ve put into it. A lot of it will actually remind of their own childhood. I think they would enjoy this a lot,” he said.

Looking at the big picture, Suarez hopes that “RPG Metanoia” will open doors to all Filipino animators in the future. “So, we had a lot riding on this, not just for ourselves, but for all the animators in the country.”

Moviegoers Laud "RPG Metanoia"

Moviegoers applauded the country’s 1st full length 3-D animated film, “RPG Metanoia,” during its red carpet premiere at SM Megamall Cinema 3 on Sunday.

Celebrities, including Lea Salonga and Optical Media Board chairman Ronnie Ricketts, were among those who watched the Tagalog movie, an entry to this year’s Metro Manila Film Festival.

ABS-CBN chairman Eugenio Lopez III and president Charo Santos-Concio, Malou Santos of Star Cinema and television production head Linggit Tan also showed up in the star-studded event.

Child star Zaijan Jaranilla, who lends his voice to the lead character, was happy with the turnout. He said “RPG Metanoia” is one of his best projects.

“Tuwang tuwa po ako kasi napalabas na po ang movie namin at marami pong pumuntang mga tao… Sa mga hindi po nakanood, manood na lang po sila sa December 25,” Jaranilla said.

Aside from Jaranilla, it also showcases the voices of Aga Muhlach, Vhong Navarro, Eugene Domingo and Mika dela Cruz.

“RPG Metanoia” is rated General Patronage by the Movie and Television Review and Classification Board and graded A by Cinema Evaluation Board.

Aga Muhlach Talks About Reunion Movie With Sharon Cuneta

Aga Muhlach confirmed that he and Sharon Cuneta have finally patched things up after the highly publicized “tampuhan” that they had a couple of weeks ago. The Megastar already announced their reconciliation last week, but it was Aga’s first time to speak about the said reconciliation. "Okay na. Saka wala naman talaga kaming problema. I mean everything is okay. Ayos na 'yon. All is well, always naman," Aga said at 16th Jollibee Maaga ang Pasko Bash for 400 Kids event, which took place December 10 at the PICC Forum at the CCP Complex along Roxas Boulevard. However, the actor was elusive as to the details of his conversation with Sharon and stressed that what is important is that he and the Megastar are friends again. “You know there's so many things that have been said already. All is well so I will just stop at that," said Aga.

Last week, Sharon already revealed that Aga had already reached out to her and that they have apologized to each other for any hurt that they have caused each other. Although she did not confirm it, many suspect that Aga’s decision to delay the long-overdue movie with Sharon and proceed with his movies with Regine Velasquez and Angel Locsin has put off the Megastar.
In her interview last week, Sharon also dispelled the question as to when her reunion movie with Aga will start production. She and Aga first worked together in the film Kung Ako Na Lang Sana in 2003.

At the Jollibee Maaga ang Pasko toy and book collection drive, Aga also had a similar reaction. "Wala pa talaga. I think, God willing, pero may ginagawa pa ako. Tinatapos ko pa ang mga pelikula ko (with Regine and another one with Angel). In time kapag dumating ang tamang proyekto para sa amin, why not? I will be willing to work with her. She knows naman that. So wala 'yon. Hindi nagtatampo 'yon. Okay na yon," Aga said.

Cristine Reyes is so pissed right now according to her twitter account with ASAP XV Co-star Sarah Geronimo. She tweeted that Sarah spoke bad words against her during the ASAP XV rehearsal. Though she never named Sarah in her tweets, it is so obvious when the clues Dram Princess and Idol were mentioned on her tweets.

Alfred Vargas Refused to GMA 7' Amaya, Will Star in ABS-CBN's Mutya

The hunky actor/politician is set to return to ABS-CBN after 7 years of being a kapuso.

Ang kapuso hunk na si Alfred Vargas ay magbabalik muli sa Kapamilya Network after 7 years na pamamalagi niya sa GMA-7.

Tumamlay kasi ang career ng hunky actor ngayong 2010 at dahil na rin ito sa pagkandidato niya bilang councilor sa Quezon City. Pagkatapos niyang manalo ay hindi na nagkaroon ng proyekto si Alfred sa Kapuso network subalit may offer sa kanya ang GMA management na supporting role sa upcoming epicserye na “Amaya” sa 2011 na pinagbibidahan ni Marian Rivera.

Subalit nagoffer din pala ang Kapamilya network sa actor-politician na gumanap sa upcoming teleserye na “Mutya.”

Dahil mas “meaty” daw ang role ni Alfred sa “Mutya” kumpara sa “Amara” ay nagdesisyon siya at ang kanyang manager na si Lolit Solis na piliin ang proyekto sa kabilang estasyon at tuluyan nang bumalik bilang isang Kapamilya.

Ang huling proyekto ni Alfred sa ABS-CBN noong 2003 ay ang teleseryeng “Sa Dulo ng Walang Hanggan” bago siya lumipat sa GMA. Ang unang naging proyekto naman niya sa Kapuso network ay ang kwelaseryeng “Marinara” noong 2004 bilang leading man ni Rufa Mae Quinto.

Mariel Rodriguez Congratulates Toni Gonzaga for My Amnesia Girl

It seems like singer and actress Toni Gonzaga has let all the bygones be bygones between her and actress and television host Mariel Rodriguez.

In an interview with “E-Live” on Saturday, Gonzaga revealed that Rodriguez congratulated her through a text message for the success of her movie “My Amnesia Girl.”

“Oo, nagtetext-text na kami. Binati rin niya ako noong premiere night,” Gonzaga happily related.

The 2 had a rift when Gonzaga learned that Rodriguez was allegedly saying bad things about her behind her back.

They, however, expressed that they are open to reconciliation as it would be a good way to celebrate Christmas without having any bad feelings toward other people.

Gonzaga, meanwhile, thanked all the Kapamilyas who supported “My Amnesia Girl.” She also invited people to watch the movie.

“Siyempre nagpapasalamat tayo sa lahat ng mga Kapamilyang nanood. Sa lahat po na hindi pa nakakapanood, may 2 weeks na lang po kaming natitira. Kim Chiu Surprised Gerald Anderson in GenSan

Despite his success, young actor Gerald Anderson has remained grounded and treasures his humble beginnings in General Santos City, where he grew up.

On Wednesday, Anderson had their newly renovated house in GenSan blessed. The actor admitted that the house is his gift for his mom this Christmas.

"Gift to para sa mama ko. Siyempre dito talaga siya sa Gen San so naisip ko pagandahin ang bahay namin kasi ito din ang dating bahay namin, pinalaki ko lang para sa mama ko,” he said.

Anderson’s mom was elated with his son’s present.

“Well ako talaga, blessing yang bahay ko. Siya naman din ang gumastos nito eh. Nanggaling sa pinagpaguran ni Gerald. I’m very happy. Hindi pala ako nakakalimutan ng anak ko kahit sumikat siya,” Anderson’s mom said.

The gathering was attended by the young actor’s friends from Manila and GenSan. His relatives and neighbors were also present.

Anderson was surprised and was made extra happy by the presence of his longest on-screen partner, Kim Chiu, who flew all the way from Manila just to be present in the event.

“Kasi pinagmamayabang niya sa akin na ang ganda ng bahay ko. Ang ganda ng bahay ng mommy ko. Nakakaproud kasi sa pagiging artista niya dalawa na ang bahay niya. Pumunta kami dito para makita [ang bahay]. Ang ganda, ang ganda. Tsaka ang dami niya ng achievements. May bahay siya dito, may bahay siya doon so parang solve na siya,” Chiu said.

After Anderson’s quick stay in his hometown, he is now back in Manila and is set to do projects with his newest leading lady, Jewel Mische, and Popstar Princess Sarah Geronimo.

"Excited ako sa project at excited akong makatrabaho siya (Mische). Unang-una kasi, galing siyang GMA, and 'yun, lumipat siya sa atin. Kumbaga, it's a very exciting challenge," he said

Gary V.'s Succesful Soul in Motion Concert

Singer and dancer Gary Valenciano let loose pure energy at the Naga City Coliseum Thursday night as a very large crowd trooped to the venue for his "Soul in Motion" concert.

For his opening number, Valenciano wowed the crowd with a different style of dancing which amazed all the attendees.

He also sang a number of his own songs which became soundtracks of popular local movies.

Valenciano’s children, Gabriel and Paulo, were also there to perform. The proud dad could not hide his delight as he performed alongside Paulo and Gabriel while the two sang and danced.

Mr. Pure Energy also dished out several new wave songs from the 80s, which was his initial trademark before he started to become famous.

The jam-packed concert, which lasted for 3 hours, definitely made the Bicolanos ecstatic
