Aga Muhlach's In The Name of Love: Great Farewell Gift from ABS-CBN

Aga Muhlach didn’t mind underacting for some scenes in In The Name Of Love not only because it’s required for his role, but also to highlight a co-star’s dramatic performance. Moviegoers have said that Aga, Angel Locsin, and Jake Cuenca have showcased something new through their unforgettable characters. “Sinabihan ko sila na I want them to shine. It’s their time to shine, then they should shine,” said Aga in an interview with Push.com.ph and other ABS-CBN reporters.

Aga was very happy with the positive feedback that In The Name Of Love has been getting from moviegoers and film critics alike. In fact, the dashing actor even considered it the best farewell gift from Star Cinema now that he has officially moved to a different network. “Paalis na ako ng ABS-CBN, ito ang huling pelikula, trabaho ko sa kanila. Gagawa pa din ako, sana [in the future with them]. Pero in the meantime, you know, napakagandang regalo nito (In The Name Of Love) para sa akin. Kaya we made sure na maganda talaga ito.” But Star Cinema Head Malou Santos, who heard Aga’s interview, said that this movie won’t be Aga’s last film with ABS-CBN’s production outfit.

Aga said that he took it a good sign when his wife Charlene Gonzales was moved to tears when she saw the rushes of the film because he trusts her taste when it comes to good movies. “Well, si Charlene, she's a good gauge, you know. Kapag umiyak 'yan, kapag affected 'yan sa istorya, [ibig sabihin] maganda yung pelikula. Nung post-production pa lang, pinanood niya yung pelikula, umiyak na siya. Tapos [nung nanood siya sa] premiere, umiiyak pa din siya,” he happily exclaimed.

Aga also commented on the fact that his former leading lady Lea Salonga has been all praises for his performance in the movie. He couldn’t help but laugh though when told that Lea still admires his heartthrob looks until now. “Kami ni Lea, I'm just waiting for the chance na makagawa kami ng reunion movie. Kaya nga sinama ko si Lea [sa premiere night para ma-excite din siya na matuloy na yung project namin]. Gagawa kami ng movie talaga. Sana maulit muli—ang pelikula namin,” he beamed.

Julius Babao's 'Krusada' Against Plastic

The lives and millions of pesos worth of properties lost to the massive floods during Typhoon Ondoy showed Filipinos the danger that plastic can bring to mankind.

Yet, two years after this tragedy, plastic is still widely-used in the country, and continues to find its way to rivers, waterways, and drainages.

This Thursday (May 26) in “Krusada,” ABS-CBN news anchor Julius Babao will talk about his advocacy against plastic. Babao encourages citizens and industries to reduce, prevent or ban the use of plastic and other non-biodegradable packaging materials such as Styrofoam.

For something that is not environmentally-friendly, plastic remains popular among Filipino consumers. But whether it is still clean or usable, plastic keeps being thrown away, adding up to the tons of waste that will take hundreds of thousands of years to decompose.

Julius believes every Filipino can help in the cause. They can simply use reusable containers like eco-bags instead of plastic bags. More importantly, they can show their support for the enactment of a law that bans plastic bags and non-biodegradable packaging in the national level.

He said this may not be a “cure-all” solution to the country’s waste management problems but this can serve as a big step in raising awareness to the importance of caring for our environment.

Kim Atienza Won't Go Into Politics Anymore

Kim Atienza, “Showtime” host and “TV Patrol’s” resident weatherman, has closed the door on politics.

"I was in politics for about 12 years of my life. Nabigay ko na ang lahat ng dapat kong ibigay sa politika at tapos na 'yun sa buhay ko," said Atienza, son of former Manila mayor Jose "Lito" Atienza Jr.

He made the statement in response to a viewer's question if he has plans to go back to politics.

The question was part of "Showbiz News Ngayon"'s Tanong All U Can segment.

Atienza, who previously held the post of councilor of Manila's 5th district for 3 terms, said that right now he is enjoying his life as a TV personality, which he would rather be than be a mayor or a senator.

"Ngayon nandito ako sa telebisyon. Talagang enjoy ako sa pagiging Kuya Kim. I'd rather be Kuya Kim than Mayor Kim, Senator Kim or President Kim," Atienza said.

Aside from hosting "Showtime," Atienza is also hosting his trivia show "Matanglawin."

Atienza started his TV career when he joined "TV Patrol" in 2004, taking over the post of the late weatherman Ernie Baron.

In 2005, he joined the morning show "Magandang Umaga Pilipinas" on ABS-CBN.

Kathryn Bernardo and Julia Montes Thank Original 'Mara Clara' Stars

"Mara Clara" stars Kathryn Bernardo and Julia Montes extended their appreciation to the original stars of the show -- Judy Ann Santos and Gladys Reyes.

"Mara Clara" is set to air its finale on Friday (June 3). The show is a remake of the 1992 ABS-CBN hit TV series of the same title.

Bernardo and Montes both said they are grateful to Santos and Reyes for giving them the chance to do the remake of the hit series.

"If ever na makakausap ko si Ms. Gladys Reyes ay magpapasalamat po ako kasi siya po ang inspirasyon ko sa show na ito. Nagpapasalamat po ako kasi pinagkatiwala niya sa amin itong show na ito," Montes said.

"Kung makakausap ko si Ate Judai magpapasalamat po ako kasi pinagkatiwala niya sa akin ang role. At gusto kong tanungin siya kung okay po ang ginawa namin. Kasi ginawa po talaga namin ang lahat. Ang mga scenes hindi namin sinayang," Bernardo said.

The teenage stars admitted having mixed emotions as the show is about to end.

"Kasi 3 times a week ang taping namin. 'Yung bonding namin sa taping sobra talaga," Bernardo said.

"Kahit 3 times a week kami nagte-taping at kahit konti ang time namin para sa family namin iba talaga ang feeling na nandoon kami. Kasi parang second family na namin," Montes added.

Bernardo and Montes also asked the viewers not to miss their show's remaining episodes.

"Asahan nila na mas magiging ma-drama ito. Ma-aksyon at luluha sila sa ending namin. Sa aming 'Mara Clara' family, salamat po at tinanggap niyo po kami. Sana po hanggang sa huli ay huwag po kayong bibitiw," Montes ended.
