Maja Salvador Joins Kim Chiu in My Binondo Girl

Fresh from playing Krista in the action-drama teleserye Minsan Lang Kita Iibigin, Maja Salvador returns to primetime as Amber Dionisio, the newest character in My Binondo Girl. Maja told Push.com.ph during her promo shoot how ecstatic she was when told that she would be part of the teleserye top-billed by her best friend Kim Chiu.

Maja, however, refused to reveal if her character would be a friend or a foe.

Having played numerous teleserye characters in the past, the 23-year-old actress from the respected Salvador showbiz clan shared what she loves about Amber. Ipaglalaban niya ‘yung alam niyang karapatan niya.”

Aside from her character, Maja said that she is also very excited to start taping for My Binondo Girl because she will get to spend time with her best friend Kim.

But now that Kim and Maja will be starring opposite each other in a teleserye, it’s inevitable that viewers will make comparisons as to who is the better actress. However for Maja, work should not affect friendship.

Toni Gonzaga is Excited to Showcase her Singing at the Toni@10 Anniversary Concert.

As a celebration of her decade-long showbiz journey, Toni Gonzaga admitted that one of the reasons why she is very excited about her anniversary concert is because she can highlight her singing once again. Despite having released five chart-topping albums in the past years, Toni has had her hands full starring in hit movies and hosting shows like Pinoy Big Brother and Happy Yipee Yehey!

“Actually one of the reasons why I am excited about this show is because not a lot of people naman nakikita na I sing, I go on stage, and I perform. Kasi alam naman natin sa telebisyon na bihira kami mabigyan ng ganitong pagkakataon na talagang mag-sing and dance and then do our own version of different cover songs so I’m just really grateful na may show na ganito where I can also share yung kakayanan ko bilang isang performer and I think it’s up to the people to decide kung tatanggapin nila yung ihahain ko para sa kanilang lahat,” she shared.

The 27-year-old singer-actress admitted it is one of her goals to be taken seriously as a concert performer, but she also understands if management wants her to focus on other aspects of her career as well. “Yes that’s the plan pero ayoko namang manggagaling sa akin kasi sila na lang magdedesisyon nun,” she added.

Ever since she auditioned and won a role opposite Piolo Pascual in a popular soft drink commercial when she was still 13, Toni said she has still held on to the dream that she and her family had for her singing career.

After her concert, the ultimate multimedia star is also looking forward to all the projects that will be keeping her busy for the rest of the year, including returning to her hosting duties for Pinoy Big Brother later this year. “Of course in my whole entire career I’ve expected a lot. I’ve expected so much and although hindi ko na nga lang shini-share yung iba pero siyempre sa loob loob ko marami akong ini-expect sa career ko at sa buhay ko and for me, I think after these ten years, I’ll be looking forward to the next ten years of my showbiz career. That’s what I’m really expecting,” she said.

Toni admitted that she never really expected that her concert at the Big Dome would push through. “Actually ang Star Records, sila ang nag-isip nito. They actually told me about this first quarter of the year. Akala ko nga hindi na matutuloy yun eh kasi there were a lot of times before na years ago na even si Ate Kris (Aquino) sinasabi niya sa akin noon na bakit hindi ako mag-concert sa Araneta? Sabi ko hindi naman ganun kadali yun. Siyempre kailangan mo ng mga taong to support you and to back you up and to help you put up this whole show and I’m just really thankful na may Star Records na naniniwala din sa kakayahan ko na maging performer and to be able to do a show like this in Araneta Coliseum,” she admitted.

For the concert, Toni has guest stars which include Piolo Pascual, John Lloyd Cruz, Vhong Navarro, Pokwang, Alex Gonzaga, and Gary Valenciano. Toni said she personally invited her guests to be part of her show because they all played a part in her rising career. The singer-actress also admitted that she looks forward to impressing her audience with a powerhouse program. “It’s going to be a nice opening number na pang-show naman. Magsisimula siya sa isang bonggang opening number just to open the show and then eventually it will be a story as the night goes by sa mga production numbers. Definitely may Tagalog songs and yung repertoire of course it will range from 18 to 20 songs. I think that includes the guests as well,” she shared.

Toni Gonzaga’s 10th year showbiz anniversary concert Toni@10 will be held on September 30 at the Araneta Coliseum in Cubao, Quezon City.

‘No Other Woman’ Keeps Moviegoers Enthralled from Beginning to End

Although it’s the first time that Anne Curtis, Derek Ramsay, and Cristine Reyes have worked together, their onscreen chemistry have helped make No Other Woman a huge success and the most talked about movie of late.

Derek and Cristine play a perfect couple, Ram and Sharmaine, whose marital problems are mainly rooted from their respective dysfunctional families. But since Sharmaine is not only beautiful but also a devoted wife, she has earned the love and loyalty of Ram, a reformed playboy and rising furniture designer. But their commitment to each other is put to the test as Ram meets the seductive Cara, daughter of a luxury resort owner and a self-confessed playgirl. Coupled with their instant physical attraction and Cara’s promise of pleasure without emotional attachment, Ram soon finds himself trapped in a web of deceit and betrayal despite his better judgment. Have cheap thrills truly replaced marriage which was once held sacred by most couples?

Tales of love and infidelity have been used in many Pinoy movies, but this premise proved to be a good vehicle for Anne, Derek, and Cristine who played their roles really well. Anne’s portrayal as the other woman is effortless, so effective that moviegoers would instantly hate her the moment she lays her eyes on Derek and tries to lure him into having an affair with him. It’s also interesting to watch Cristine’s docile character turn fierce as the story progresses. To top it all, these powerful actresses have a leading man who not only wows viewers with his good looks but with his dramatic performance as well. All three have their fair share of shining moments, with their final confrontation being the most impressive and heartrending at the same time.

The creative team of No Other Woman deserves kudos for a well-written script and the truly unforgettable lines of the lead stars and even the supporting cast. As seen in the trailers, Anne owns her playgirl role with lines like, “No pressure, and kiss me, and don’t you dare fall in love with me. We’re two consenting adults just having fun.” The plot gets even more exciting with Cristine’s retaliation and double-meaning statements: “Why don’t you have dinner with us tonight? And of course who would forget Carmi Martin’s advice to her daughter Cristine?

Other members of the cast include Tirso Cruz III, John Arcilla, Ron Morales, Kitkat, Nina Dolino, and Ricci Chan.

No Other Woman is now showing in theaters nationwide.

Erik Santos Releases New Album After Four Months of Preparation

Prince of Pop Erik Santos released his newest album "Awit Para Sa'yo" featuring his rendition of 5 OPM hits.

Unlike his previous albums, Santos said this one has 14 tracks and with more original songs.

“This album is four months in the making. Gusto namin maka-collect ng magagandang mga kanta from different OPM composers like Maestro Ryan Cayabyab, Mr. Ogie Alcasid,” he said in an interview with Mornings@ANC.

The album also includes "Hanggang Kailan Kita Mamahalin,” a song he wrote himself and composed alongside Mr. Pure Energy Gary Valenciano.

One morning I just woke up and a lot of ideas, a lot of words were coming in. In 20 to 30 minutes nakagawa ako ng kanta,” he said.

Santos said he is thankful his carrier single is doing well in the market.

“I’m so happy that the song itself, the carrier single is doing very well sa mga radio stations... Actually nowadays it’s really really hard to make an original song popular. This one, Tagalog tapos bagong kanta, medyo mahirap pero sa nakikita namin, lumalakas ngayon ang OPM so we’re very happy to know that,” he explained.

Meanwhile, Santos vowed he will continue reinventing himself and make sure he would live up to his "Prince of Pop" title.

Asked if he is ready to spread his wings wider, now that he has been in the industry for 8 years, the singer said: “Yes and I want to continue singing music to the people. It has been my dream talaga to share my talent to the world. This is the best time talaga and the right avenue for me to share my talent sa mga tao.”

Vice Ganda is confident, however, that things will be patched up between the two of them.

"Nothing is stopping me from discussing the issue with him. Siyempre gusto kong mapag-usapan.

The comedian then stressed that Diaz remains his friend.

"Hiwalay 'yun sa personal. Katulad kanina, magkasama kami sa dressing room. Nagkikita kami, nagtsi-tsikahan kami, pero di namin nata-tackle 'yung importanteng issues. Hiwalay 'yung oras namin bilang mag-barkada at bilang manager-talent," he said.

Asked if it is possible that friendship would come to an end because of this row, Vice Ganda said, "Kaya kailangan naming mag-usap [bago mauwi dun]. Malawak 'yung salitang maghihiwalay."

"Pwedeng matapos 'yung relasyon namin bilang manager at saka talent, pero 'yung bilang magkaibigan, di mapuputol 'yun. Masyado kaming malalim na magkakaibigan," he added

Growing Up Barkada to the Rescue for Maricar Reyes

Vina Morales Receives Award for Beauty Salon Business

Actress-singer Vina Morales has added another feather in her cap when she received the Agora award for her successful beauty salon business, Ystilo, on Wednesday night.

Morales accepted the award in a ceremony held at The Peninsula Manila in Makati City.

"This is a prestigious award. We are so thankful, it's such an honor from Agora.

"For now, I'm so overwhelmed with all the blessings [as] I celebrate my 25 years in showbiz," she added.

Morales is set to do a benefit concert on October 17 at Resorts World Manila in Pasay City. Proceeds of the show will go to the National Children's Hospital.

Guesting on the show are stars Erik Santos, Billy Crawford and Morales' younger sister, actress Shaina Magdayao.
